In v1.9 custom collections (see release notes) have been introduced (useful for import and custom grouping headers).
Ensure Edit menu->Properties->Newsgroups, "Collections" are set to "Custom" or "Auto&Custom" to see them on group opening.

Note 2. When upgrading or switching from trial to registered version your previous settings/database will remain intact, you only need to replace the executable.
